Olin Avenue Market, do not pass it up!

The Olin Avenue market should not be skipped! A  full deli menu is available, that you can view by clicking the link below, and they have recently added a wide of frozen yogurt and ice cream available all day.

If I lived in Santana Row this would be where I would come for all small necessities. They have fruit, many cheeses, chips, and sodas. They are expecting to be providing alcohol very soon, having just received a liquor license.

I highly recommend stopping by for a visit, or a snack!

Hotel Valencia Santana Row

Even if there is no wedding in your near future, these banquet halls are perfect for any birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, or anniversary celebration. You will never have to leave the party, guests will be able to shop, eat, and sleep on in the same area. What could be better?

Mommy & ME!

This will be the 7th year in a row that Santana Row is offering Momma & Me, a free kids club on the row! The opening was this past Tuesday, May 8th, but not to worry, the club will continue on every first Tuesday of the month until December!
The activities are interactive and educational and are geared toward children at the pre-school age level and below.
If you have young ones and are looking for a good reason to get out of the house and into the sunshine, come join the fun!
This past week, the club took place in the Valencia Park in front of Starbucks, and weather permitting, this is where the club will continue to be held.
Don’t wait until too much time passes or you and your family will miss all the fun!

Hot Tamales!

Sadly, Santana Row’s beloved Louisiana cuisine, Roux, has now been replaced 😦

On a lighter note, the restaurant that is taking its place is called HOT TAMALES, and had an amazing soft opening on Cinco De Mayo (May 5th) that apparently set the stage for what is to come from this fresh start.

To clarify, this new cuisine is mexican styled and offers live entertainment! Taking the shoes of Roux will be no easy task but from what The Row’s regulars say, they have high expectations.

A frequent visitor who asked to not be named, quoted, “I love when new places are added to the row! I am here often and it is always nice to be given a new choice. I plan to make a visit this weekend when the weather is expected to be the best yet!”

I am personally looking forward to trying something new that is close to home 🙂

Summer is coming!

With summer coming, who wants to spend all their time in doors?!

Something important to keep in mind is that Santana Row is pet friendly! If you are not in the mood for spending a lot of money, bring your furry friend over and take a walk doing some window shopping. The Olin Market on Santana Row now offers a wide variety of ice cream and frozen yogurt that is to die for! Recently, I tried the chocolate chip and I definitely recommend it!

My advice for the summer, grab a frozen treat and your pet and head on over for some nice leg exercise around the block!

Cielo Wine Bar!

The Cielo Wine Bar has just opened up for the summer!

It is located on the top-level of Hotel Valencia and will now be open every night except Sundays for the summer! This bar has an amazing view, being on the 7th story of the hotel, it overlooks the Valencia Park in the back of Santana Row.

Cielo is perfect for those hot summer nights where all you want to do is sit outside and enjoy the weather with friends with a nice glass of wine.

If you are looking for something a little more low-key and relaxing I definitely recommend stopping by Cielo, the view and the atmosphere is sure to not disappoint you. For the nights when the air is more crisp, multiple fire places and heat lamps are always being lit to keep guests warm.

As a girl, I would have to say a romantic proposal is what comes to mind when visiting this “heavenly” wine bar. So for all you men out there, take note 🙂

Bad PR reputation?

Recently, I’ve been feeling that the overall public reputation of Santana Row has seriously declined. After reading a few of the Yelp reviews on the overall vibe towards the row, I was a little let down. It is important to remember that The Row has a wide variety of options for everyone, but you should choose wisely. It is easy to be disappointed if you are looking for a family outing and find yourself at an inappropriate, club scene. So my advice is to read reviews and do some research on the different places, so you make the right choice to fit your wants.

I did find this raving review that did a great job at highlighting the best aspects of our beloved row!

Taking it Off The Row

Although it would be easy to live your whole life without leaving Santana Row, it’s good to get some air!

Wine tasting is something that is offered all over the bay area, a new favorite worth discovering is The Wine Club in Santa Clara, presented by the Fine Wine Merchants. They offer $5 wine tastings on Fridays beginning at 4pm. Not only is it cheap but it’s not far from our beloved Santana Row!

Visit the wine club’s web page for more information! Happy wining and dining!

How to… Make a Lemon Basil Margarita!

Recently I discussed my new favorite on the row spot, El Jardin. After a couple visits and a couple of experiments with their drink menu, I realized my favorite drink had to be the Lemon Basil Margarita. That is why this past weekend, me and a few coworkers got together and created our own version of this drink… in a much cheaper fashion! I went ahead and put the steps and photos we took into a how to video for all of the margarita lovers like me!

Watch the how to right here!
